CGI wins €250m deal with Bavarian Government

CGI has won one of its biggest-ever deals in Germany, securing a €250m deal with the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice.

Under the six-year term, CGI will provide services that cover aspects including infrastructure, user support, unified communications, media technology, and project and consulting services for Bavarian courts and public prosecutors' offices.

CGI will manage two data centers in Munich and in Nuremberg, and will support 16,500 workstations across 220 locations. CGI is also tasked with driving innovation, also will play a key role in driving the ministry's digitization and innovation management by equipping all meeting rooms with digital media technology and replacing traditional telephony with unified communications. It also will manage projects related to the introduction of electronic legal transactions and electronic files.

This is an important win for CGI, and the local leadership team talked up how its wider international experience in the public and specifically justice sector was an important factor behind the win. The company won a £90m deal last year with long-standing customer the UK Ministry of Justice, to run and modernize its core applications.

Germany accounted for 6% of the group’s total revenue in its most recent fiscal year, making it CGI’s fifth largest market in Europe behind France (14% of revenue), the UK (12%), Sweden (7%) and Finland (6%). The deal represents a second major win for CGI in continental Europe, after it secured a €96m contract with French retail group FashionCube.
