Microsoft recently announced financial results for its fourth quarter and final year 2014, which ended on June 30, 2014.

Revenue for the quarter was USD 23.38 billion, increasing by 17.5% from USD 19.9 billion in 2013. Operating income was USD 6.48 billion, up from USD 6.07 billion a year before. Net income amounted to USD 4.61 billion, 7.1% lower as compared to USD 4.97 billion in 2013.

For the FY period, revenue rose by 11.5%, totaling USD 86.83 billion, operating income increased by 3.7%, to USD 27.76 billion and net income recorded a growth of 1%, to equal USD 22.07 billion.

By segments, year-on-year changes in revenues for Q4 were as follows: Devices and Consumer Licensing grew by 9.5% to USD 4.69 billion, Computing and Gaming Hardware went up by 23.5%, to USD 1.44 billion, Phone Hardware recorded USD 1.99 billion, Devices and Consumer Other rose by 20.3%, to USD 1.88 billion and Commercial Licensing increased by 5.6%, reaching USD 11.22 billion.

For the FY period, Devices and Consumer Licensing declined by 1.1% to USD 18.8 billion, Computing and Gaming Hardware went up by 49%, to USD 9.63 billion, Phone Hardware recorded USD 1.99 billion, Devices and Consumer Other recorded a 9.7% growth, totaling USD 7.26 billion and Commercial Licensing increased by 5.9%, totaling USD 42.03 billion.
